Teleconsultation Offline teleconsultationWith E-School you get a powerful tool to help you in your teaching duties. This is another function that virtual microscopy has compared to traditional microscopy. In routine practice, different results can be obtained using different stainings.Tissue microarrays (TMA) represent a fairly new invention in routine pathology, a solution you can use effectively only with virtual microscopy.Sometimes viewing a specimen in two dimensions is not enough. With fluorescent microscopy a whole new way is opened in the diagnostic process.Virtual microscopy is based upon digital data.

1.12 release

Scan program:

  • Fluorescent compensation: with the help of the fluorescent compensation slides the scan program can compensate for the illumination unevenness which occurs often when scanning in FL. The process is similar to compensation in brightfield scanning.
  • AVT Stingray camera integration: the AVT Stingray F-146C camera is going to replace the AVT Marlin F-146C (Zeiss ICc1). The Stingray offers the same resolution but provides a higher quality image that is free from the artifacts often found in the Marlin. Moreover, the Stingray offers up to 16 bit images while the Marlin produces 8 bit images.
More information about AVT Stingray F-146C can be found here.
  • SCAN II loading included: the 1.12 scan software version supports the loading parameters both of the SCAN I and SCAN II

MIRAX Viewer:

  • Slightly restructured icon groups, simpler interface

1.12 Viewer

  • Software modules: the various software modules are no longer part of the Viewer install. This not only saves space but it also makes the Viewer more stable. Installation of the software modules can be done separately. The licensing does not change.
  • More intuitive annotation handling:
    • F11 switches back to pan mode, no need locate the pan mode button with the mouse pointer
    • the annotation does not have to end at the edge of the current screen, by pressing CTRL you switch to pan mode, and you can drag the slide. If you release CTRL you can continue drawing the annotation

New modules: NuclearQuant, MembraneQuant, FISHQuant

Apart from bug fixes, feature enhancements and GUI improvements (at the TMA module, for example) the new software version brings you three long-awaited software applications for automated image analysis.

Quantification software

NuclearQuant
The software automatically scores your IHC nuclear stained digital slides (ER, PR, Ki67, etc.) and gives you detailed measurement reports.
Thanks to color deconvolution and the live preview window you can always see what will be detected.

MembraneQuant
This software application automatically evaluates your IHC membrane stained digital slides (HER2, EGFR, etc.) and gives you detailed measurement reports.
Color deconvolution and a live preview window always show you what and how will be detected.

FISHQuant
The software automatically scores your FISH digital slides. It has multiple built-in probes and offers a live preview to show what will be detected. A detailed measurement report is created during evaluation.

Classification gallery
This new tool in the Measurement Visualization window allows you to do much more with your evaluation results!

  • detection relocalization
  • detections are grouped into evaluation classes
  • every single detection can be rescored or deleted
  • modified evaluation results can be saved back to the slide
  • measurement data export

HTML report

This new tool gives you the ability to create professional looking patholgy report which displays patient and selected evaluation data along with images from the evaluated parts of the sample.

New GUI for the TMA module
The TMA gallery sports a new look resembling the ImmunoScreener gallery. The interface is more user-friendly and new features have also appeared (eg. the 2-phase ordering system).
