Teleconsultation
With the Pannoramic Viewer you are able to participate in a teleconsultation process. Simply register in and log on to PathoNet to access the virtual slide your colleague wants you to form an opinion about. You can even download the slide to your computer. After having the slide reviewed you can write a report.
You can also have a personal slide server with Teleconsultation Server. This easy-to-manage Windows based application lets you set up your slide server in minutes. You can create users, user groups and also assign metadata to uploaded slides which enables effective searching. Slide uploading can be done within the Pannoramic Viewer.
Licensing is also simple: if you buy a Teleconsultation Server with e.g. 5 users it means the Server will allow a maximum of 5 users to log on to or access slides from the Server.
Initiating a teleconsultation can be done two ways: either by sharing your uploaded digital slide with a user and requesting offline teleconsultation or by requesting an online teleconsultation and advising on the date of teleconsultation.
Offline teleconsultation
If the consultants cannot do the teleconsultation the same time, the owner of the slide shares the slide and asks the other consultant to have a look at it. The other consultant simply logs in to the Teleconsultation Server through the Internet and accesses the slide. If the owner of the slide allows it, the consultant can even annotate and/or download the slide.
After reviewing the slide a teleconsultation report can be generated in the Pannoramic Viewer and it can be sent to the requester of the teleconsultation.

Online teleconsultation
At online teleconsultation all the participants view the virtual slide at the same time although they may be located at different corners of the world.
Since online teleconsultation happens with the concurrent participation of multiple experts via a slide server (Teleconsultation Server or PathoNet) it can be much more effective than the offline way of teleconsultation.
Online teleconsultation is conducted through the Pannoramic Viewer, every participant can see what the session leader is doing (the leader can be changed) and communication is possible via a built-in chat window. At the end of the session a mutual report is formulated and can be saved to each participant's computer.
